Oklahoma Statehood

Oklahoma was admitted to the Union on November 16, 1907, as the 46th state. Its admission merged Oklahoma Territory and Indian Territory into a single state, bringing together communities with vastly different histories. Oklahoma's statehood reflected a complex negotiation between the interests of Native nations, settlers, and the federal government.
