Gateway Arch Completed

The Gateway Arch in St. Louis was completed in 1965 as a monument to the westward expansion of the United States. Standing 630 feet tall, it became the tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere and an instantly recognizable symbol of Missouri. The arch attracts millions of visitors each year to the St. Louis riverfront.
