In November 1620, the Mayflower arrived at Plymouth Harbor carrying English Separatists who became known as the Pilgrims. They established Plymouth Colony, one of the earliest permanent English settlements in North America. With assistance from the Wampanoag people, the colony survived and eventually thrived.
