Delaware's General Corporation Law became one of the most business-friendly legal frameworks in the nation during the latter half of the twentieth century. The state's courts developed expertise in corporate governance, and companies from across the country chose to incorporate in Delaware. Today, a majority of Fortune 500 companies are incorporated in the state.
